Michael Marcon earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in illustration from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Always being self-taught in the fine arts led him to experiment with many techniques, mediums and forms of expression. He now lives in his home town of Altoona, Wisconsin where he focuses on his acrylic landscape paintings and mixed media works.
"I believe that developing artistically as a painter has given me a heightened experience of the outside world. My works are created from an individual combination of memory, imagination and observation. I find inspiration in visual ideas along with the romance of the past filtered through time and then re-experienced in fragments, it is through light, color, texture and a sense of place that I express these romantic fragments. In the creative process I am always searching for a balance between traditional sentiments and contemporary sensations."
